Education And Support For Your Success…
U-turn groups (frequently referenced as Journeys) have been developed to assist individuals in learning the necessary steps to make a U-turn in his or her life. Groups will be scheduled in the weeks following each Event that will reflect upon the change in the life of the lead storyteller who presented during the Event.
Groups will encourage networking, sharing, and receiving support in a safe and healthy environment. The facilitator for each group will have experience in working with persons who wish to make a U-turn. Each group is designed to provide a safe and secure place for healing, hope and happiness and cover a wide-variety of topics relating to personal, family and community issues. Previous groups include hurt, crisis, grief, anxiety, substance abuse and learning how to share your own story. Groups are regularly added and re-offered, so check our site frequently for updates.
For additional information or to register for a group, please select a group below. You may also call the U-Turn office at 423-813-3300 or email info@uturninstitute.org.

When stepfamily life gets tough, remaining dedicated to your commitment is a day-to-day decision. This series combines instruction and encouragement that affirms both husbands and wives and their intent to build strong families. Whether married or soon-to-be married, you’ll discover how to communicate effectively and solve the everyday puzzles of stepchildren relationships.
Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Facilitators: David & Leslie Thacker
Following two long-term marriages (David–32 years and Leslie–25 years) and two journeys through divorce, David and Leslie Thacker met in church choir. They dated, got engaged, and married in 2017. Combined, they have five children and will have their fourth grandchild this year. Their children range in age from 33 years to 10 years old, and four of the five children are adults in various stages of life (married, single, careers, and with children). The story of their blended family is being written and remains a work in progress, but they are eager to share what they have learned and how God has helped them blend into one family with others.

Most people will tell you that divorce is the most painful and stressful experience they’ve ever encountered. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced. This 13-week group will help you process your separation or divorce in a safe and healthy environment.
Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:30
Facilitators: Jan Wilson & Steve Brewster
Jan joined DivorceCare over 25 years ago after experiencing two painful divorces but found such healing and hope in the group she became a facilitator and has been leading groups for 23 years. She believes “God is using my ugly mess any surrendered heart to be an instrument of encouragement to others who are walking in places I’ve already walked.”
Steve has experienced firsthand the impact of separation/divorce in his life, but also the ministry of healing through the power of God’s Word coupled with love and support from a group that walks with you through your storm.
